As of September 2025, the Indian government has notified revised stipend rates for apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). The new rates, which took effect in September 2025, reflect the 36% increase recommended by the Central Apprenticeship Council (CAC) in May 2025.

Apprenticeship Stipend Increase Rule (as per Sub-rule (1AA) of Rule 11 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992)
The Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 specify how much stipend (monthly payment) apprentices should receive during their training.
According to sub-rule (1AA) of Rule 11, there are incremental increases in the stipend for apprentices as they progress through the years of training.
The prescribed minimum stipend is fixed for the first year of apprenticeship training.
